Born in Manchester, England in March 1958, late '70s pop sensation Andy Gibb was the younger brother of Australian-born musicians Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb -- better known to the world as the Bee Gees. After flirting with show business for years, Andy launched a professional career as a pop singer in 1977 following the massive international success of the Bee Gee's soundtrack to Saturday Night Fever. Gibb's first three disco-ish singles -- "I Just Want to Be Your Everything," "(Love Is) Thicker Than Water," and "Shadow Dancing" -- all reached No. 1, making him an instant star, his popularity rivaling that of his older brothers. Subsequent singles like "Everlasting Love," "(Our Love) Don't Throw It All Away" and "Desire" reached the Top 10.

But after the release of the 1980 LP After Dark Gibb's popularity plummeted as quickly as it had risen. Anguished, he retreated to TV, hosting "Solid Gold" during 1981 and 1982, and guesting on sitcoms like "Gimme a Break!" and "Punky Brewster." Tragically, as his star fell, Gibb sank deeper and deeper into cocaine addiction, eventually dying of a drug-related heart ailment in March 1988, only days after celebrating his 30th birthday.
